The Cathedral of All Saints Mission and the Arts hosts a roundtable discussion on Monday, November 5, at 7pm with the Dean, The Very Reverend Dr. Leander S. Harding, Mr. Woodrow Bynum, Director of Music and Dr. Eugene Garber, Professor Emeritus, The University at Albany. Mr. William Douglas, Lloyd Cast Organ Fellow of the Cathedral will moderate. The roundtable aims to place Britten’s masterwork in its historical contexts bridging the 20th Century’s two world wars; to explore its unique shaping of the traditional requiem mass; and to investigate its startling choice of poetic texts. This event is free. Audience participation is welcome.
This event is offered in conjunction with the Albany Symphony Orchestra’s performance of Benjamin Britten's War Requiem on Saturday, November 10. Parts of the performance will be sung by the boy choristers of the Cathedral Choir led by Woodrow Bynum.
