Planned Giving—Ways to Get it Done
There are several ways in which those who love the Cathedral of All Saints can contribute toward the advancement of the Cathedral’s long-term outreach and financial health. Uncertain times may encourage you to complete your estate plans--as may a life event such as the arrival of new family member, a change in marital status, or moving to a new state. A better future for ourselves and those we love results when we reexamine our life purpose and values and create or update estate plans.
Bequests
Real estate or personal property given under a will or trust as a future gift to the Cathedral of All Saints right now, in either a specific amount, percentage of your estate, or a specific item of value from your personal belongings. Bequests, which can be added to your will at any time, can be general property taken from your estate’s general assets, from an explicit source (like a particular bank account), or gifts of property (for example, a painting, jewelry, car, boat, or a specified amount of cash). The Cathedral of All Saints can also be added to your will or trust document as a contingent beneficiary (in the event the primary beneficiary is unable or unwilling to accept the initial bequest).
Retirement Funds
Making a direct gift from your retirement funds to the Cathedral of All Saints, again as either a primary or contingent beneficiary, is another option to consider when selecting a method right now to benefit the Cathedral.
Life Insurance
Existing life insurance policies may name the Cathedral of All Saints as a contingent beneficiary. You can also consider purchasing a new life insurance policy--or using an existing policy that is no longer needed--with the Cathedral named the owner and beneficiary.
Life Income Gifts
A life-income plan is another way in which you can help protect and preserve the Cathedral that makes financial sense to you, with favorable tax consequences, as well. The life-income plan could be a charitable gift annuity or a charitable remainder trust, providing income to you and the Cathedral for the rest of your life or for a specific number of years, after which the Cathedral receives the balance of the gift.
