Leander S. Harding, Dean of the Cathedral of All Saints, speaks with Dr. Ian Hutchinson, retired M.I.T. professor and author of Can a Scientist Believe in Miracles . The video will go live on 9 April at 7 PM.
Many contemporary people think that religion and science are incompatible. Throughout history many of the most important and creative scientists have been people of faith. This continues to be true in our time. The Cathedral is pleased to present a unique Cathedral Conversation about the relationship of science and faith with Dr. Ian Hutchinson, recently retired from M.I.T. as professor and chair of the department of nuclear engineering and physics. Dr. Hutchinson is an expert in physics of gas plasma and has more than 160 scientific publications to his credit.
Tune in to hear Hutchinson tell the story of how he came to faith while he was an undergraduate student in science at Cambridge University and how his scientific work has only deepened his life of faith. He is the author of Can a Scientist Believe in Miracles? We spoke about that question and about belief in the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, and The Rev. Sir John Polkinghorne’s book The Faith of a Physicist.
